About Me

Hi, I’m Kat Tankersley.  I’m 35 years old and happily married to Scott for 6 years this December.  He and I met in September of 1995 and married in December 2006 so we have been together a whopping 16 years.  Much of that time we lived together so we were pretty prepared for marriage.  I must admit, it IS different.

We have 4 dogs, they are all cocker spaniels and are our “kids”.  They get along perfectly (most of the time) and are the biggest babies you will ever meet.  Speaking of meeting them, if you do, prepare to be licked.  Cocker Spaniels LOVE to give out kisses!  For about 5 years, I ran a nationally recognized Cocker Spaniel Rescue group called “Cocker Paws Rescue”… we helped rescue around 200 animals and get them into forever homes.  I urge you to adopt your next pet, there is a huge epidemic with pet overpopulation right now and many animals are being killed each day simply for being homeless.  Can you imagine that?  Oh, yeah, and speaking of pet overpopulation, we also have 5 cats and our 5th dog, Azure died of cancer at age 10 in 2010.  She was our girl, our only non-cocker in the house but you couldn’t tell her that.  She was an akita/blue heeler mix and our very first rescued dog.  Miss that girl, she was her momma’s protector.

I’m also a human mom.  My son was born in 2006 prematurely.  Sadly he didn’t survive but we still celebrate the impact he had on our lives with an annual birthday party and balloon release.  I scrap about him when I feel the need.  His name was Christopher and he’d have been 5 years old this year.  I support several infant loss charities such as Northwest Arkansas Share (http://nwashare.org) and Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep (NILMDTS), also the March of Dimes.  If you can make a small donations (or a large one) to any of these charities, please do so in memory of William Christopher Tankersley.

If you are still reading this, God bless you and are you stalking me?

I started scrapbooking in February 2007.  I credit my good friend Kimbytx (blog address here) for getting me involved.  My very first page featured items by Studio Flergs.  I’ve been a big fan of hers ever since.  I actually liked my first page and maybe still do, but my style has changed dramatically.  You’ll see a wide variety of styles in my gallery.  I like a bit of it all but my favorite is when I scrap minimally and very simply (hence my design name).  I love kits that have basic textures, elements, plus a bit of pop or something a bit unique.  I love all things Disney so I’d like to make some kits that work well with Disney photos yet are still simple and easily scrapped with other things.  Since I’ve been scrapping so long, I know what I like and plan to put that into my kits and hope that its what others like as well.

I’m also a photographer!  Yup!  I have loved photography as long as I can remember and in May 2011, my husband let me buy my first pro level camera.  I got a CANON 60D DSLR and I love it.  It’s not too heavy yet also packs a punch when you learn how to use the settings best.  I’ll post some examples soon.  I do hope to start my degree soon.  I’d like a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography.  Since I work on the University of Arkansas campus, I can attend college for 10% of the usual price.  Yes, that’s a 90% discount.  I know, right?  Wow!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.  I’ll have more information up soon along with better links and photos for you to see.

{hugs}
Kat
